The Rains is an oil painting on board sized 35.6 x 27.9 x 0.3 cms (14 x 11 x 0.1") priced at £420.
The life of prey animals is often fraught with danger, sometimes even terror; perhaps it is difficult for them to find peace and rest. But I think the moments of calm are made even more powerful by the times of fear. The buffalo in this painting are still wary and on-guard, but the rains have just arrived, and for a short while food is more bountiful, a moment of calm a little easier to find. I love exploring these little snapshots and moments in animal's lives, and this time I wanted to focus on buffaloes, and how their lives are dictated by cyclical weather and being hunted.
The board it is painted on is strong with a smooth texture that allows the brushstrokes to show and interesting textures to be achieved.
This painting is signed, dated, and provided with material and dimension information on the back, and signed on the front.
