Guardian is an oil painting on canvas board sized 30 x 30 x 0.3 cms (11.8 x 11.8 x 0.1") priced at £500.
Recently I find myself drawn to scenes of family and love within the animal kingdom. I seem to be exploring paintings of mothers with their children, and find within these an unfaltering guardianship and care from the parents. Though the cubs in this painting are whimsical and cute - oblivious and ignorant to their futures, even - there is a strength in the mother's posture that belies a knowledge of potential threats and danger, ever to be watched for.
I admire this relentless perseverance shown by parents in the animal world, and keep getting pulled back to wanting to create these scenes of love.
The board this is painted on is strong and thick with a texture that mimics canvas, and allows colours in the underlayer to peek through.
This painting is signed, dated, and provided with material and dimension information on the back, and signed on the front.
